The Battle of Salamis was a decisive victory for outnumbered Greeks against Persian invasion forces [ The Persian fleet was composed by ships and the greek fleet by The Greeks lost 40 ships whereas the Persian lost to ships. The battle was fought in the straits between the mainland and Salamis, an island in the Saronic Gulf near Athens, and marked the high-point of the second Persian invasion of Greece.

To block the Persian advance, a small force of Greeks blocked the pass of Thermopylae, while an Athenian-dominated Allied navy engaged the Persian fleet in the nearby straits of Artemisium. In the resulting Battle of Thermopylae, the rearguard of the Greek force was annihilated, whilst in the Battle of Artemisium the Greeks had heavy losses and retreated after the loss at Thermopylae. The Allies prepared to defend the Isthmus of Corinth while the fleet was withdrawn to nearby Salamis Island.

Although heavily outnumbered, the Greek Allies were persuaded by the Athenian general Themistocles to bring the Persian fleet to battle again, in the hope that a victory would prevent naval operations against the Peloponnese. The Persian king Xerxes was also eager for a decisive battle. As a result of subterfuge on the part of Themistocles, the Persian navy rowed into the Straits of Salamis and tried to block both entrances. In the cramped conditions of the Straits, the great Persian numbers were an active hindrance, as ships struggled to maneuver and became disorganized.

Seizing the opportunity, the Greek fleet formed in line and scored the victory. Verreries du Centre de Jumet. Rakow Library Chambon Collection. Mart Payne, Oklahoma, 5 years old, picks from 10 to 20 pounds of cotton a day, The pool table was fun to enjoy, something you don't get at most places. Cell service and WIFI is kind of spotty, but worked enough when needed. Donna had a coffee maker, water pitcher with cups and even some snacks for us.

For the value, this is a nice place to get away in the countryside. Her dogs are great and were no problem. They barked a bit as all dogs do but it was not bothersome. They are part of the family and well loved. If you have issues with dogs, you might want to look elsewhere.

However if you are a dog lover like me, they will complete your experience!! You can expect a warm welcome from Donna and her dogs. The place itself is very comfortable and decorated very nicely.

From the moment we checked in, we felt welcome by Donald at this peaceful and beautiful farm. He gave us a basket of organic veggies and suggested fun activities during our 5-day stay. Highly recommend! This home was so adorable and awesome. It had everything we needed and more. The Keurig was a nice touch for easy coffee in the mornings. I highly recommend staying here! Don was an excellent host!

His place was beautiful, inviting, and the perfect retreat for our trip. We also thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit outside. To begin, this property is beautiful inside and out!

I had a hard time deciding whether I wanted to stay inside or outside as both spaces are breathtaking. The house is absolutely gorgeous! It's spacious and modern with tall ceilings.

Open floor concept that allowed us to spend quality family time. Rooms are each unique and comfortable. Very clean and everything worked perfectly, but if you think the inside sounds great wait to motion rides in karachi about the outside.

Perfect big back yard for kids to play around or even for adults to hang out. There's a nice grill, and fire pit, you call it; the options are endless.

Nice front porch with and incredible view of mountains. We even saw some deer in the front yard, and our kids loved it! Also this place is in the perfect spot because it has the peaceful privacy you need, yet still close to town. Our host Donald was incredibly nice and courteous. He made us feel like we were at home. You can really tell Donald put great effort into this property and it shows in everyway.

Honestly, I don't think I could describe how amazing was our stay. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone and would come back. This is a wonderfully accommodating space which is peaceful and centrally located in the area. Easily fitting 4 adults and 2 kids. The porch was great for a book and coffee in the morning and if the rain had held off, i had hopes of some bourbon by the fire pit.

Nonetheless, we were thankful for this home during our bread visit. Where do I begin!? It was a very good value compared to equal housing closer to Asheville. The moment we walked in we were taken by the beautifully appointed furnishings and aesthetic decor.

We arrived very late at night yet Don was present, ready to welcome us with a smile and gave us detailed instructions for making our stay comfortable. We were a pleasant distance from all the sites we had come to see and had an easy drive back to Don's house each night.

The bedrooms and baths were welcoming with very comfortable beds and squeaky clean appliances. This old hippy really enjoyed going down memory lane by sleeping in the heated king waterbed. Also enjoyed the prophetic side table book about the meaning of life, the answer of which I've already discovered for myself but so glad to receive confirmation.

Our morning coffee was enjoyed while gazing at the blue ridge mountains from the front porch. Our evening wine was enhanced by a roaring fire in the fire pit off the back deck. The morning we left, Don gave us an educational tour of his greenhouse and mushroom growing operation at our request. All in all it was 3 days of glorious memories made complete by this secluded home in Forest City owned by a gracious host. Perfect place to stay. Clean and convenient. Heidi was very quick to respond to any questions.

We are already looking to book when we go back in March. The house is very cozy and feels like home as soon as you walk in. The kitchen is great to whip up some food when you don't want to go out and the space is great.

The house manual lays everything out very nicely and instructions are easy to follow. Heidi was so great! Her response time so fast. I would recommend this house to anyone in the area. This is a beautiful, spotless home! Sparkling clean, comfortable furniture, easy access. Lots of little touches to make your stay enjoyable! Heidi was an awesome person to communicate with and it was a pleasure to stay in her home! Will definitely be booking again!

I have stayed with Laura multiple times and each time has been a joy. The accommodations are spacious, comfortable and quiet.

A short walk to the square offers the right amount of relaxation, good food and a few minutes of exercise. I highly recommend a stay here. It is a lovely place Guest house to stay! Very close to town yet in a country like setting. The town is within 5 minutes of the guest house and offers many things to do shop, eat, etc. The guest house is very quite and private yet has ALL the comforts of your own home. There is plenty of closet space and a dresser for cloths. I highly recommend staying for a night OR an extended get away week to months.

My husband and I were in Lincolnton for a wedding. This Airbnb was centrally located and much less expensive than the hotels in the area. The cottage was clean, spacious, and our host offered great amenities like snacks and Netflix. Would definitely recommend! The home was very spacious, and the amenities were much appreciated.

The location was perfect for our visit. The home was easy to find and parking was very convenient. However the home was not as clean as I would expect an AirBnB to have been. Laura was an amazing host and has such a beautiful home. We walked into a sparkling clean home. It is a guesthouse, but we had plenty of room for my husband, son, and myself. They had snacks and drinks waiting for us. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It was convenient to places to eat and things to do. I loved the shower!!

They had everything we needed even went as far as having QTips in the bathroom. Great space and neighborhood! Walkable to cute downtown with lots of great food and such. We would stay again for sure!

Such an amazing stay at such an amazing price!! The house was so comfy, plenty of room and amenities, as well as thoughtful snacks and drinks already there when we arrived. Within walking distance of the center of town and such a lovely back patio that overlooks the forest! The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful.

The bed was super comfy and there's a carport which is great. There was lots of amenities in the kitchen. I had a very peaceful 3 night stay. I will use again in the near future The hosts are very nice and quick to respond to any concerns. I definitely recommend.

The space was large and well decorated. The coffee bar was great and the shower was super nice. Other than that, the place was clean and easy to find. Very cute and funky space. Samantha's cottage was a great place to stay and highly recommend it! It was quiet, private yet close to everything. The private entry was perfect and with a keyless lockpad it made check in a breeze.

She has put a lot of thought into her space and is very cozy! Samantha was really accommodating. I loved the little touches in the kitchen coffee, breakfast items, glasses, bowls, cups, wine opener. Wasn't expecting them and it was a nice surprise Not the fanciest place on the outside but inside is quaint, clean, and welcoming, full of thoughtful touches.

My only minor complaint is that you can hear almost everything going on upstairs but luckily my neighbors were relatively quiet. Overall this was the perfect place for me at a very affordable price! Samantha was wonderful, addressing any concerns immediately. Very nice for one person or a couple. Great value and centrally located. Chris and Pamela are excellent hosts. Their cabin is quaint, comfortable, clean and very close to Gardner-Webb University. There were 3 adult women in my group and we were all very comfortable and had plenty of room.

Chris was very accomodating with an extra blow up mattress. One of the guests needed an iron and Pamela brought us hers from their home! Over all we had a wonderful stay! I recommend Cabin in the Pines. I had a wonderful time at the cabin! Lovely lights, chairs on the patio which I enjoyed while listening to the birds and drinking my tea at sunrise. The inside was the perfect size, and had everything you could need, the couch was especially comfy. They were extremely accommodating, and I really enjoyed my time.

If I return to the area, I intend on staying here again. Thanks guys for a wonderful stay! Expect a warm welcome! Outstanding communication. Usually when I travel for work I end up at places that are just a bed to sleep in. This time Chris and his wife made it feel like a home away from home. Their backyard is fantastic and cozy and their dogs are loving and lazy. All in all it was a fantastic two night trip and would love to stay again if I am in the area again!

It was so peaceful and comfortable. I loved napping outside on the swing and the fire in the evening. Chris was so helpful and I would love to come back and stay here again. If you can book it then do it! Not just great host but folks we now call friends. Just a lovely, warm, comfortable, clean spot. Great welcoming hosts and super private. This cabin in the pines, is the perfect place to stay.

So relaxing so adorable and everything you need is provided. Maxwell and his mom are very warm, welcoming and hospitable. The room is private and the king-sized bed is very, very comfortable! The neighborhood is quiet! We had a very relaxing stay. Can't wait to stay again! Even the two dogs are very friendly! Highy recommended! A simple and well appointed large room with a very comfortable king size bed.

The bathroom is large and comfortable as well. Its location offers easy access to Gastonia and Crowder's Mountain. Overall, it's a pleasant, comfortable room to rest and recharge in after a hard day of climbing. This accommodation lives up to its name!

It has a closet with microwave, toaster oven, Kurig coffee maker—all the things to help get your morning started. We loved our stay! Everything was as advertised. Clean, nicely decorated, good amenities, in a safe neighborhood. Lazara is an excellent communicator. Her location is great for anyone needing space around Gastonia, Kings Mtn and Shelby. Would definitely use her home again. Very vintage first class! I will return. Spacious room in a great neighborhood. Darryl has been informative and hospitable as well as knowledgeable of surrounding sights and must do things for the area.

Dana is the best a very loving and informative host. Dana is Awesome! I truly enjoyed my stay! Dana makes you feel at home and that is important to me as a traveling nurse. I would highly recommend booking Dana for your visit while in South Carolina!

A great place to stay at a great price with a friendly and engaging host. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. She makes you feel like family and is very accommodating! Cool place. I appreciated Dana accepting my request on short notice. The house is really fascinating. We rented this place for our weekend trip to Asheville and were more than pleased with the home. Everything was sparkling clean and the hosts even added extra touches such as keurig cups, extra towels, and small hygiene items.

They were very communicative and answered any questions we had as well as made sure we had a comfortable stay.

The best part of all was the hospitality. We exchanged stories beside the fire pit and enjoyed their company as well as their stories. They are probably some of the nicest and most sincere people I have ever met in my life to be honest. This place is definitely super clean, very comfortable, and has amazing hosts. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

You will not be disappointed I promise. This is truly an amazing place! It looks great in pictures, and even better in person. Impeccable quality, easy comfort, and a full set of amenities perfect kitchen set up and appliances made this an extremely great place to stay!

Very impressive that you can find this kind of living space in the quietness of the trees and mountains. When I arrived there was a sweet bread from a local bakery, fresh coffee beans along with a coffee grinder and French pressand even a treat for my dog! Extremely clean and well taken care of. Would definitely stay here again.

Great space and beautiful amenities. Just awesome! As a traveling nurse I stay alone much of the time. The area is so safe and quiet. They left a wonderful pastry, coffee, water and some other items. It felt just like home!!! Wi-Fi was strong as I use it to work after I leave work. The couch and bed were superbly comfortable. The linens on the bed, blankets, towels and wash clothes were top notch!!! The bathroom and shower had some serious thought. It was fully stocked and I loved it!!!

I loved the desk to work on and there was even a printer I could connect to as well! Full service TV, Netflix etc. The couch pulls out as a bed if needed and high class sheets and blankets are available if u need to use it. The spice rack was phenomenal. The setting of this cabin back off the road had tons of privacy. I enjoyed turning the lights on and sitting outside in the gorgeous Adirondack seats! There is firewood etc to have a fire and all of this is provided at a cost I felt too good to be true.

I certainly intend on staying again when work sends me to Gaffney! I was so excited when I left work to get back to the cottage as quick as I could and was sad to have to say good bye this morning.

Thank you so much for accepting my request for reservations! Beautiful space and lovely extra touches.

Appreciated the key pad as we came into town really late. It felt like a 5 star hotel with the linens, toiletries, little treats delicious sweet potato loafand the helpful little guide to the area. Really wish we had the time to use the outdoor fire pit as it looked mincir facilement hypnocament. We were really worried about our 20 month old ruining the beautiful space but he ride out the storm mp3 download fun running around the outside and we put his travel crib in the little office so he could sleep without distractions.

We will definitely recommend to others and come back the next time we are in the area. This was our best airbnb experience yet! This beautiful cabin was absolutely spotless and filled with great amenities and every little thing you could possibly need!

They left us cute little touches like dog treats and baked goods. We had such a relaxing stay and definitely would like to come back. Alex and Kimberly responded quickly and were available for anything we might need.

This cottage provides a wonderful surprise when you walk in the door. The host has taken a lot of time setting the place up for their guests. The cottage is welcoming and so comfy! No reason to leave the cottage except to enjoy the open fire pit outdoors. Will definitely stay here again when in the area. I stayed at Fox Meadows with my dogs during Hurricane Dorian and couldn't have picked a better place!

The cottage is tucked away in a quiet and calming place in the countryside with beautiful sunsets. The space is clean, spacious and the decor is beautiful and includes a comfy bed and wonderful shower.

Stephanie was nice, easy to talk to and very accommodating. There were fresh flowers upon arrival and she brought breakfast every morning. I would definitely come again! The photos do not do the space justice! This is one of the coziest, superbly decorated places I've ever stayed! It's just absolutely beautiful and so cellulite pl lol Stephanie was super hospitable and friendly.

The kitchen is perfectly stocked and included organic coffee, sugar and cream. Stephanie brought us breakfast each morning at the time of our choosing. Fresh fruit, muffins, coffee cake James was also very pleasant and hospitable. He answered our questions about the goats, and filled us in about the farm. We loved petting the goats and "Jedi", the horse.

Such an amazing place to spend our anniversary! We'll be back! This is a lovely little place. I loved the thought and effort put into the furnishings and decor.

It was very clean. The host is quick to respond to any questions. It was quiet and comfy. Had a great and peaceful weekend! Beautiful location! Will look forward to staying in the future! The cabin itself was the cutest! The decor is so modern and I was raving about the set up; it made me feel as though we were in a cabin in the mountains. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Ashley has a lovely place and it is in a super convenient location. The house is comfortable and in a lovely part of Gastonia. Ashley and her husband were a wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make my stay nice. Ashley always responded quickly and was extremely helpful. Great place to stay in the area! I think value wise it is priced a little high. This was such a cute cottage and perfect for me, my boyfriend, and the dog Abby.

It was really private, in a great location with highway access, and the yard was fenced in for Abby to hang out in. Even though we didn't need much I knew Ashley and Justin were right there if we need anything and were quick to respond. They were so nice and hospitable. The house was clean and comfy.

The host supplied us with everything you might find in your standard hotel room, and they were extremely accommodating to our needs. Would highly recommend booking their unit! They had some child items toys, books, plates and bowls, pack and play, and a high chair were very helpful. Drew and Lauren were very quick to response. We did feel like we were at home. We would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting this area.

This was a great little house near GWU. It's was very clean and we didn't want for anything. It was also a wonderful surprise to find out they had a high chair, pack n play, and a few toys for our little one.

We'd definitely stay here again! They were wonderful hosts and the fridge was filled with amazing muffins from a local bakery, farm raised eggs, local coffee and snacks! We arrived around 2am and this was the most pleasant surprise. Very gracious hosts and the space worked perfectly for our group of 6. Plenty of fluffy clean white towels for everyone and a super convenient washer and dryer located inside the house. Their king bed is amazing, I never wanted to wake up. I have been an Airbnb member since and this is the first time I have actually stayed in one!

I will definitely stay here again-maybe next week? Thank you so much, Lauren, for making me feel so comfortable with the whole process-and for all the yummy treats from local places!! We enjoyed them all!! The Dogwood house was a joy to stay at. It was clean and had a large yard. It had many great features such as gigantic towels, a fire stick on both televisions, French pressed coffee, and even toys for the little ones.

The owners were super nice and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The next time we have to visit our family in Shelby we will be staying there. Jane's place provided everything we needed to feel right at home more than a thousand miles away from our own.

The house was super clean and very cozy and allowed plenty of room for our dogs to stretch in the nice sized fenced in backyard. Having a washer and dryer to catch up on laundry was a super sweet bonus too.

Jane was very kind upon our arrival by offering to pickup essentials from the grocery store to avoid us having to go. We regretted having to leave as it felt so much like home but will definitely return if we ever find ourselves in the area again!

You won't be disappointed about your stay at Jane's place. It's very close to Grocery stores and many different places to eat. Upon arrival, the exterior seems small but quaint. When you walk through the front door, you'll notice the real hardwood floors shining.

The rooms provide a comfortable and welcoming feeling to a traveler. Having a washer and dryer in house was definately a plus! Overall, the place was great, and I would stay here again if I was in the area.

We had such a good experience with Alex and Kimberly. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Sparkling clean Everything we could have possibly needed was available even food and water bowls for our dog.

Treats and a comfortable doggie bed as well We will definitely stay there again when we are back in the area. Just what we were looking for for a quiet weekend away. Super cute space and not far from local attractions!

Very quick responses and left suggestions of fun things to do in the the ordinary acne skincare regimen. Would definitely come back, thanks so much :. Whoever said, "There's no place like home" never got the chance to stay at Alex and Kimberly's place.

As I walked into the front door, I was immediately greeted with a warm hug of the sensational atmosphere and the little welcome gifts.

While my circumstance may be different than most extended stay from out-of-statethere's no combination of words that I can put on this review to describe how relieved I was about feeling so comfortable and homey about the living situation while I started my new job.
